Kelly Colton grew up in Watertown, NY where she still resides for the warm half of the year. Sunny Zephyhillls, Florida is her home during the winter.

Although Kelly sketched as a child, she didn’t start painting until age 60. With no formal training, Kelly started painting family members’ portraits with acrylic paint which remains her favorite, but she works with mixed media and pastel as well.  

Kelly joined the art community in 2022 at Zephyhills Art Club (ZAC), where she is now the acting President, and at the Arts Association of Northern New York  (AANNY) in Sackets Harbor, NY. 

She entered her first art show that summer at the Jefferson County Fair and won best of show and a 1st place in the acrylics category. She has won numerous ribbons in Florida juried art shows and had her first stand-alone art exhibit in 2023. 

Kelly teaches a beginner’s class in Florida for people who feel they can’t paint but want to. And after 10 years of creating art still prefers painting people.
